Places to Eat on Oahu

You’re probably going to get a little hungry.  When this sensation occurs, you should eat something [good].  Lucky for you, we have compiled a small list of our favorite places to eat. [Disclaimer:  Not responsible for any weight gain.] Kimukatsu.  Erin’s most favoritest place to eat.  They’re known for their pork cutlets.  Highly recommend going with a 3-5 people and ordering one of the value combos.  We enjoyed the original, black pepper, and cheese pork cutlets. Curry House.  Delicious Japanese curry dishes.  The one we typically go to is in Aiea, but there are multiple locations (just google “curry house hawaii”).  Matt enjoys the pork cutlet and gyoza curry.  For what it’s worth, Japanese curries are not like Indian curries. Chun Wah Kam.  Large variety of choices here (think Panda express ordering style, with a lot more choices and better food).  Don’t skip on the manapuas.  We enjoy the Shoyu chicken, kalua pig, and honey garlic chicken manapuas. Rainbow Drive In.  Very good local place.  For the true experience, get the loco moco plate and don’t skip on the mac salad.  FYI, parking sucks here, but totally worth it. Goma Tei.  Legit ramen.  Get the ramen.  Matt likes the tan tan ramen.  Erin likes the shoyu. Cinnamon’s.  Superb breakfast.  Guava chiffon and red velvet pancakes should not be passed up.  The  benedicts are fantastic as well. Ice Garden.  Best shaved ice on earth. Mr. Eggroll.  Delicious local Chinese.  We always stop here at least once to eat.  Erin loves the green bean chicken. This isn’t a sit-down restaurant – you order your food and sit at the tables outside the shops. Leonard’s Malasadas. They are Hawaii’s original Malasada bakery. Malasadas are Portuguese donuts. Fried balls of dough that are rolled in sugar once cooked. DELICIOUS! There are now other varieties to try as well! Zippy’s. First stop, Zippy’s! Delicious baked goods from the bakery, take out plate lunches or a dine-in experience – you choose! Erin spent countless nights after high school football games at Zippy’s with her friends. They have tons of locations – try them out! Liliha Bakery. Erin’s favorite coco puff joint. For a special treat, Erin and her family would often stop here on the way to or from her Grandma’s house to get coco puffs! Tsukiji’s. A great place to get a sampling of various Asian dishes all at the same time.  They have a sprawling buffet of traditional Japanese, Chinese, and Korean dishes. Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck. Matt hasn’t been here yet and Erin isn’t too big a fan of shrimp. BUT all our local friends and family love this truck. Definitely a place to stop on the North Shore.
